Loukie’s Cooking Classes

Cooking Class2012 marks our 14th year of the cooking classes and it’s shaping up to be a pretty special year. Interest levels are so high that I’ve added an extra night (Monday) to our usual program – always scheduled for the first week of each month. The classes, which are held in my home kitchen in Paddington are very informal in tone and many friendships have been forged over the years. We discuss the latest in cookbooks, new places to eat, new products to try, and sometimes we’ll even talk about diverse things such as movies we’ve seen. The whole atmosphere is downright warm and friendly, but my main concern is always that people go home with good recipes to cook. While the food is, of course, the main game, wine is also given a high priority. Stephen Balme has been my partner in crime over the years, and he chooses appropriate wines according to the recipes. And where would we be without our washer uppers? We started with Vanessa, then my daughter Sascha took over between having babies, and now we’ve got Xanthe, always madly enthusiastic, cheerful, and totally helpful.
